Dr Richard Grant Thomson
Principal Periodontist

Dr Richard Grant-Thomson

Dr Grant-Thomson graduated as a dentist from the University of Queensland in 1991 and worked as RAAF Dental Officer for ten years. He obtained Fellowship in the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 1998.

Richard was awarded the Australian Periodontology Research Foundation prize for his publication on Periodontal treatment in 2001. He completed his specialist qualification in periodontics from the University of Queensland in 2002. Richard has worked as a visiting specialist for the Department of Defence and is a Lecturer for the University of Queensland Dental School Postgraduate Periodontics program.

Richard has worked as a visiting specialist for the Department of Defence and is a Lecturer for the University of Queensland Dental School Postgraduate Periodontics program.

His professional interests include periodontal regenerative surgery and dental implants. He is a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology, director of the ITI Brisbane North Study Club, and a registered specialist in periodontics.

Outside of work Richard enjoys cycling and spending time with his wife, daughter, and furry babies Koko and Ari.

Dr Amro Farag

Dr Farag graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 2003 from Cairo University followed by postgraduate training in periodontics in 2010. After moving to Australia in 2011, Amro commenced his PhD at Griffith University where he published several original papers, conference papers, and a book chapter in the field of tissue engineering of periodontal structures, and was awarded his PhD in 2016.

He was awarded Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Periodontics from the University of Queensland in 2020. Amro is a lecturer of periodontics and dental implantology at the University of Queensland. He is the current treasurer of the Australian Society of Periodontology Queensland Branch and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontology. 

Outside of work Amro enjoys spending most of his spare time with his wife Yomna and his three kids, taking them to the beach and feeding farm animals.

Elizabeth Payne

Elizabeth (Liz) Payne joined the Brisbane Implant Dentistry and Perio Care in 2005. Since graduating in 1990, Liz has gained a wealth of experience working in both public and private sector practices, including specialist dental practices. Placing a high value on her professional development she has also gained further qualifications in the areas of local anaesthesia, orthodontics, oral health education and dental radiography.
