Originally from India, Dr Arun Shailendran completing his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the TN Dr MGR Medical University in 2007 before moving to Australia in 2009. He has since joined the Burleigh Ortho Centre team as a passionate, Specialist Orthodontist.

Dr Arun practised general dentistry for ten years before specialising in Orthodontics. During this time, he gained three additional qualifications, attended several continuing education courses, and constantly strived to deliver his patients the best possible treatment outcome.

His quest to seek further knowledge led Dr Arun to pursue a three-year full-time specialist training leading to a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) qualification at the University of Queensland. Throughout his Orthodontic training, Dr Arun presented his research work at the American Association of Orthodontists conference, the Australian Society of Orthodontists meetings, and the Orthodontic Society of Ireland conference. He is a proud recipient of the Charley Schultz resident scholar award and secured a podium finish at the Seamus Keating award competition. Furthermore, Dr Arun has obtained additional specialist membership diplomas from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Dr Arun believes that the best patient outcome is achieved when combining high-quality research with excellent clinical skills. He, therefore, has been involved in various research projects at the University of Queensland and regularly attends orthodontic meetings to remain up to date with the latest advances in orthodontics.

As an Orthodontist, Dr Arun thoroughly enjoys using 3-dimensional orthodontic technology to develop a more precise treatment plan and illustrate expected results to his patients. He also loves getting to know each of his patients while creating positive change by transforming their smiles.

Dr Arun enjoys spending time with his daughter playing cricket in the backyard and getting lost in a good book in his spare time. He is always eager to travel and looks forward to exploring new cultures around the world!
