WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Dental implants replace the root of the tooth, then a crown is placed on top to create a full smile. Implants are an alternative to a bridge or dentures and can be used to replace one or more missing teeth and they can even be used to hold dentures in place.

Dental Implant treatment is carried out in 2 steps:

Step 1 - The implant placement. The titanium or alloy implant is surgically placed and left to fuse with the jawbone

Step 2 - The implant restoration. The artificial tooth, crown or denture is fitted on top of the implant.

The cost of dental implants will depend on the type of procedure and the complexity of the surgery.  Additional fees will apply if you require sedation or a general anaesthetic. Your dentist or oral surgeon will recommend a treatment option best suited to you and give you an estimate of the price and payment options during your consultation visit.

We make sure you feel comfortable during any treatment and surgery. At the consultation with your oral surgeon or dentist, we want to be sure that you understand the procedure and feel at ease about it. We discuss the best pain management options for you and explain your post-operative care. If you have any concerns at all, please let us know.

The life span of your dental implants will depend on many contributing factors including your oral hygiene routine and how well you look after your mouth. We recommend regular dental check-up and clean appointments to take the best care of your implants.

The main point of difference between the two treatments is that dental implants are fixed permanently in the jaw, whereas dentures are removable and sit above the gum.
