Dr Stephen Herriott is the passionate principal dentist and founder of Coastal Orthodontics. Dr Herriott began his dental career as a general dentist, obtaining his Bachelor of Dental Science (with honours) from the University of Queensland in 1977. After graduating he spent a number of years working in outback Queensland and Northern suburbs of Sydney before setting up his own general practice in the Northern Rivers (NSW). He went on to receive his fellowship in the Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
In 1990, Dr Herriott and his family moved to America where he completed his Masters of Science in Oral Biology and specialist Orthodontics degree at the University of Louisville, Kentucky. During this time he also successfully completed his Phase II examinations for the American Orthodontic Board. Since his return to Australia, Dr Herriott has focused his career on specialist orthodontics, with particular interests on growth and development of the growing face and dentition, and adult treatment modalities.
With extensive experience, Dr Herriott has developed his skills and knowledge across many areas of dentistry, including: children's dentistry, orthodontics, smile aesthetics, oral surgery and pain and anxiety control. His passion for continuing to deliver the highest standards and care to his patients, he regularly attends professional development courses and training to remain up to date with the latest in dentistry and orthodontics.
Outside of his orthodontic practice, Dr Herriott enjoys spending quality time with his wife and four sons, and maintaining an active social life. He is often found outdoors cycling, surfing, fishing, boating, golfing and rowing. Dr Herriott also has a love for orchid growing and wine appreciation.
