Rachel Garraway

Dr Rachel Garraway

Rachel Garraway graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) in 1992. 

She worked in private practice in Toowoomba before returning to university to undertake specialist training in Periodontics. Rachel was awarded the Australian Periodontology Research Foundation prize for her publication on Periodontal Regeneration. In 1997 she travelled to London to accept a position in the Department of Periodontology at the Royal London Hospital.

In 1997 she travelled to London to accept a position in the Department of Periodontology at the Royal London Hospital. 

Dr Garraway is a Lecturer at the University of Queensland Dental School, and lectures extensively on dental implants and potential complications. She is a Speaker and Fellow of the International Team for Implantology, director of the ITI Brisbane North Study Club, a past President for ANZAP (Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists), a Member of the Board of Studies (Periodontics) for RACDS. and a member of the ADAQ CPD panel. 

Rachel is happily married with three teenage children and a dog. To escape the mayhem, she enjoys trail running and reading.

Dr Richard Grant-Thomson graduated as a dentist from the University of Queensland in 1991 and worked as RAAF Dental Officer for ten years.

He obtained Fellowship in the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 1998.

Richard was awarded the Australian Periodontology Research Foundation prize for his publication on Periodontal treatment in 2001. He completed his specialist qualification in periodontics from the University of Queensland in 2002.

Dr Peter Chen graduated in 2007 from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours). He worked in community health centres and private practices in Melbourne for 5 years before undergoing specialist training in periodontics at Griffith University.

His research was on the osseointegration of dental implants in osteoporotic bone. Peter supervises post-graduate students at the University of Queensland, and previously supervised dental students at the University of Melbourne and Griffith University.

Outside of periodontics, Peter spends time with his wife, Grace, and their young daughter, Ellie. 

Jennifer kraatz
Periodontist

Dr Jennifer Kraatz

Dr Kraatz graduated as a dentist from Griffith University in 2009. Prior to commencing her periodontal specialist training, she worked in both the private and public sectors in Queensland and Tasmania before settling on the Sunshine Coast.

Jennifer has spent time as a clinical supervisor and lecturer at Griffith University and Oral Health Services Tasmania teaching undergraduate students in the subjects of general dentistry, periodontology, and dental implants. She worked as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Tasmania and has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Jennifer has been both state councilor and treasurer for the Australian Dental Association and is employed by the ADAQ as a consultant for Peer Review.

Outside of work Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family and doing pilates.

Dr Farag graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 2003 from Cairo University followed by postgraduate training in periodontics in 2010. 

After moving to Australia in 2011, Amro commenced his PhD at Griffith University where he published several original papers, conference papers, and book chapter in the field of tissue engineering of periodontal structures, and was awarded his PhD in 2016.

Alan Timmerman
Periodontal Hygienist

Alan Timmerman

Alan Timmerman graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy in 2010 and after gaining five years' experience across both general and specialist practices joined the Cotton Tree Implant Dentistry and Perio Care team. Through the earlier years of his career Alan developed a passion for periodontics and spent three years working in a specialist practice.

Outside of dentistry Alan enjoys traveling and getting outdoors to go snowboarding and fishing.

Amanda Loo Gee
Hygienist

Amanda Loo Gee

Amanda Loo Gee graduated in 2011 from the Oral Health Therapy program at the University of Queensland.

She has 8 years of experience working in public dental practices and specialist dental practices in Gympie, Brisbane and Toowoomba. Amanda has recently moved to Periocare in Cotton Tree (2020) and is excited about providing the best care for her patients.

Amanda’s passions include cooking and spending time with family and friends. She is also learning to play the piano and hopes one day she will be able to play Ludwig van Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.
