Maven Dental Castle Hill welcomed Ellie Vatandoust to the practice in September 2017 as a driven and compassionate oral health therapist. Ellie initially began her career in dentistry through a dental nurse scholarship at the Westmead Oral Health Centre and working as a surgical and periodontist assistant in 2002.
In 2009, Ellie followed her passion for oral health and graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy. After receiving her qualifications she spent two years working as a hygienist, before returning to university to obtain her Post Graduate Diploma in Dental Therapy in 2011.
Ellie has since gained over 9 years' experience working as a hygienist and 5 years as a dental therapist. Her passion for the industry has seen her work as a temporary oral health therapist on Christmas Island, where she enjoyed working with local communities.
Within her role, Ellie is passionate about preventative dentistry and educating her patients on the importance of oral health. Her clinical interests include periodontology, root planning/alternative medicine in approach to gum disease, primary and adult restoration, treatment planning, radiology interpretation, oral pathology, Invisalign, infection control and performing treatment under local and topical anaesthetic.
Furthering her professional development, Ellie regularly attends continued learning courses and has a keen interest in completing the Oral Health in complicated clinical treatment in 2018 and obtaining her PHD in Community Oral Health in the near future.
Outside of the practice, Ellie holds interests in running, reading, talking to people, life philosophy/cultural study, learning new languages and traveling.
