Despite his parent’s sadness towards his inability to receive the mathematics or literacy awards in primary school, he happily, disproved them and was fortunate enough to enter dental school.

Akila graduated dentistry with a first-class honour and continued on to work as a general dentist both in the public and private sector. Through his time working as a general dentist, he developed a passion for periodontics and the treatment of gingival diseases related to teeth and implants. Akila was then fortunate to be offered a place in specialty training in Periodontics at the University of Sydney and the University of Queensland. He began his specialist training as a periodontics registrar at Westmead Hospital and Sydney Dental Hospital.

After completion of his initial training at the University of Sydney, he continued his research in biomarkers of periodontal disease and clinical training in advanced implant dentistry, hard and soft tissue regeneration and mucogingival surgery at the University of Queensland with Queensland Health. Akila provides the best care to his patients and strives to achieve a high level of aesthetic quality and long term stable clinical outcomes for all of his cases. He practices a wide spectrum of surgical and non-surgical periodontal therapies and implant dentistry.

Akila is pleased to bring Perio Magic to the patients at Toowoomba Implants & Perio Centre.
