Cosmetic Dental Services

Cosmetic dentistry is a branch of general and specialist dentistry that typically provides treatments aimed at improving the overall aesthetics of your teeth and smile. It is generally any dental process that improves the appearance, though not necessarily the function, of an individual’s teeth. This has been found to be an extremely valuable field of dentistry, as a huge amount of people have reported being unhappy with the appearance of their teeth, which can drastically affect their general quality of life. The mouth is possibly the most central focus of the face and body, so if you are uncomfortable with its appearance you may refrain from simple human pleasures such as speaking, smiling and laughing. Cosmetic dentistry allows for people to not only be satisfied with their smile, but proud of it.

What is Invisalign?

The Invisalign System is a nearly invisible way to straighten your teeth and your smile without the use of bulky, traditional braces. Invisalign treatment works through a series of clear, comfortable and removable aligners. Each aligner is slightly different, moving your teeth gradually into the desired position.

How old are people with Invisalign?

Everyone from teens to seniors can reap the benefits of Invisalign. Due to its discrete appearance, Invisalign has become extremely popular among adults who might not feel confident wearing braces.

Having straight teeth isn’t just important for children, but for adults as well. The older generation did not have access to orthodontics in the same way the current generation does – the process has been hugely popularised and streamlined. This means even at an older age, adults can now straighten their teeth for both cosmetic and oral health reasons, quicker and more effectively than they ever could have imagined. In fact, it is getting increasingly common for adults to opt for Invisalign, with some orthodontists even focusing on the adult demographic.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

  • Invisalign is fully removable
  • The Invisalign retainer is made from medical-grade plastic which means it is comfortable
  • As the name suggests, it is practically invisible
  • You can see the end result before you start. Using advanced 3D software, Invisalign even allows you to see the end results of treatment before you even start
  • Invisalign won’t interfere with your lifestyle – and has even been proven to be as effective as traditional braces for treating a wide variety of orthodontic issues

Can my dentist provide Invisalign?

More and more dentists are staring to offer Invisalign, as the software and laboratory support does most of the required work, as opposed to the more technical process of fitting traditional braces. As mentioned, Invisalign entails a series of mouth moulds which dentists are more than accustomed to doing for similar procedures such as mouthguards and dentures. From here, the mould is sent to the lab so the retainers can be manufactured. So while orthodontists are obviously more qualified in the entire teeth straightening experience, many general dentists are able to provide you with Invisalign.

How long does the Invisalign treatment take?

The length of time greatly varies from person to person and situation. On average you could expect your treatment plan to last about 28 weeks. Best to contact your local dentist to get an exact timeframe however.

Will Invisalign affect my speech?

It might take you a couple of days to get used to your Invisalign retainer whilst you talk. However we find that after this period of adjustment most people are back to their usual selves.
