Meet The Team

Associate Dentist, Dr Kieran Chew, established the East Perth Dental Centre alongside his mum Dr Judy Westerhout in 1999. Dr Chew graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science and was the recipient of the GD Henderson prize in Oral Surgery.

Dr Chew is dedicated to offering his patients comprehensive dental care in a calm environment with the option of in-house sedation and relaxation techniques. He also continually pursues innovative training in Australia and overseas to ensure he provides the most advanced care possible to his patients. Some of his additional studies include:

In his free time, Dr Chew takes part in mission work, providing underprivileged children with dental care. During 2012-2015 he was a mission leader and travelled frequently to Vietnam and Cambodia where he provided oral health services to the local communities. When he isn't partaking in volunteer work he enjoys surfing, playing the guitar, rock climbing and studying theology and philosophy.

Dr Wan graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2000 with a Bachelor of Dental Science. Two years after graduating Dr Omelia began practising from East Perth Dental Centre.

Dr Wan enjoys the many facets of dentistry, with a particular interest in treating children. Her essay on preventative dentistry for children saw her receive an award from the Australian and New Zealand Paediatric Dental Society. Keeping up to date with the latest dental techniques and technologies, Dr Wan regularly attends continuing professional development courses and hopes to complete further training in TMJ disorders.

Dr Wan has a vision for providing the highest quality of care to each and every patient and helping them to be free of dental diseases and regain their smile. She also welcomes international patients being fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese.

Away from dentistry, Dr Wan enjoys travelling and volunteering at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Graduating from the University of Western Australia in 1984, Dr Alan Lim now has over 30 years of experience in the dental industry. Dr Lim’s career has seen him practice in rural and suburban areas of WA. Dr Lim has a keen interest in Sleep Medicine and Dentistry, but also enjoys composite bonding, Crown and bridge work, Endodontics, Periodontics, Implants, TMD and Orthodontics.

Dr Lim is passionate about all aspects of Sleep Dentistry and has spent years researching to advance our understanding of Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA). His treatment philosophy stems from the belief that there is an additional occlusal and airway connection to TMD.

Alan is currently involved in research in Sleep Medicine (OSA) in conjunction with the University of Western Australia. 15 of his patients were involved in a trial at the University where Dr Lim treated them using the Oventus appliance. His next project with UWA will be compiling a list of retrospective patients treated with DNA Therapy to see its effect on bone plasticity.

Even as an experienced dentist Dr Lim recognises that he needs to continue developing to ensure his patients get the best treatment possible. Dr Lim frequently seeks opportunities to learn from his colleagues, and has previously undertaken courses in Restorative Dentistry, Orthodontics and Dental Implants. He is also passionate about teaching the next generation of dentists, regularly lecturing both here in Australia and overseas on Epigenetic Dentistry (DNA Appliance) and OSA.

Away from dentistry, Dr Lim loves spending time with his adult son who lives in Tokyo. He is also a talented musician who plays jazz guitar and double bass. Dr Lim also spends most of his Sundays at church with his family.

Dr Ranjitta M Mugunthan has been practising as a general dentist since 2000 and moved his practice to East Perth Dental Centre in October 2020.

After working in the public sector for several years, she transitioned to the private sector in Sydney where she was fortunate to have been provided with continued hands-on training in many aspects of general dentistry. To this day, she ensures to keep up to date with the latest dental techniques by attending regular courses. 

Her clinical interests are in general dentistry, as it involves getting someone out of dental pain - an aspect of dentistry that she finds extremely rewarding. She also has a great interest in restorative dentistry and helping her patients improve their smiles and consequently, helping to provide a better quality of life due to improved function and aesthetics.

Dr Ranjitta enjoys the opportunity to interact with different people who often have amazing life stories to share. 

Outside of dentistry, she enjoys cooking and trying different recipes, long walks - especially bushwalking, and photography.

Growing up, Dr Aakash Pateel was always interested in the medical field, eventually deciding to hone in on dentistry for the ideal blend of science, art, and hands-on expertise. After graduating from the University of Western Australia in 2014 with a Bachelor of Dental Science, Dr Aakash has been treating patients in private practice, now operating from East Perth Dental Centre.

Dr Aakash finds great value in the varied nature of general dentistry, ensuring every day presents a unique set of challenges and rewards. A strong advocate for preventative dentistry, he prioritises patient education, focusing on their oral hygiene to enhance their quality of life and long-term health. His meticulous approach shines through, especially in restorative and crown/bridge procedures, where precision meets aesthetics to deliver great results for his patients.

At the heart of Dr Aakash's practice is a genuine commitment to patient care. He takes immense pleasure in fostering meaningful connections, ensuring every individual feels at ease, and comprehends the nuances of their treatment.

Outside of the dental clinic, Dr Aakash is an avid connoisseur of food, coffee, and wine, often pairing these indulgences with the company of friends. A globetrotter at heart, he seizes every chance to travel. His artistic inclinations extend to photography and music; with the soothing keys of the piano being his chosen method of musical expression.
