Dr Shane Johnstone

Dr Shane Johnstone joined the Hallett Cove Dental Surgery team as lead Clinician in May 2021.

Dr Shane was raised in Tasmania and graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Hons) from the University of Adelaide in 2005.

Along with his time in the private sector, he has spent time at both the University of Adelaide and Griffith University as a senior lecturer, and working as the Director of Gold Coast Oral Health Services for a number of years until 2015.

His clinical interests include all aspects of contemporary general dentistry, and he greatly enjoys being able to place patients at ease, especially those that are particularly nervous at first.

Outside of work, Dr Shane can be found spending quality time with his family. Some of his hobbies include bushwalking and playing the piano, and he eagerly awaits the time when travel is again an option.

Dr Lauren Gill

Dr. Lauren Gill joined Hallett Cove Dental Surgery as an associate dentist in 2017. After graduating from the University of Adelaide in 2013, Dr. Gill worked in a very busy dental clinic for three years in Mount Gambier, South Australia. While she loved her time working in the country, she is now settled back home in Adelaide.

Dr. Lauren Gill joined Hallett Cove Dental Surgery as an associate dentist in 2017. After graduating from the University of Adelaide in 2013, Dr. Gill worked in a very busy dental clinic for three years in Mount Gambier, South Australia. While she loved her time working in the country, she is now settled back home in Adelaide.

Dr. Gill relishes practicing a wide range of general family dentistry including check-ups, cleans, fillings and crowns. However, she has a particular interest in removing tricky teeth and dental implants.

She is devoted to attending a variety of dental courses. Whilst working full-time, Dr. Gill gained her Diploma of Membership of the Joint Faculties at The Royal College of Surgeons of England. She has also earned a Graduate Diploma of Dental Implantology from James Cook University.

Preferring appointments to be as relaxed and enjoyable as possible, Dr. Gill very much enjoys working with patients and talking with them so that they understand the treatment involved and can make informed decisions. She enjoys a close working relationship with nurses, therapists and other dental professionals.

Dr. Gill is a member of the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry.

When Dr. Gill is not working or attending dental courses interstate or overseas, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Laura Asenstorfer
Associate Dentist

Dr Laura Asenstorfer

Joining the team at Hallett Cove Dental in 2016, Dr Laura Asenstorfer is a passionate dentist that loves creating positive dental experiences and helping her patients overcome their dental anxiety.

Dr Asenstorfer didn’t always want to be a dentist. Like many young girls, Laura had dreams of becoming a professional ballerina when she was younger. Joining the team at Hallett Cove Dental in 2016, Dr Laura Asenstorfer is a passionate dentist that loves creating positive dental experiences and helping her patients overcome their dental anxiety.

Dr Asenstorfer didn’t always want to be a dentist. Like many young girls, Laura had dreams of becoming a professional ballerina when she was younger. After finding out she had knee problems Laura dentistry became her focus when her family dentist encouraged her to do work experience in his practice.

As a dentist, Laura loves all aspects of general dentistry. She is passionate about helping her patients achieve and maintain healthy teeth and mouth. She has a keen interest in endodontics, preventing and managing gum disease in her patients.

Away from the practice, Laura teaches ballet locally. She also loves reading good books and tending to all her plants.

Dr Cheryl Looi

Dr Cheryl Looi has a Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science and a Master of Dentistry from Griffith University. She worked as a Dental Assistant for three years whilst studying in dental school.

Outside of work, she hikes with her partner and dog, goes to the gym, and is a keen traveller.

Kelly Rathjen

After working as a dental nurse for five years Kelly fell in love with dentistry and decided to go back to University to complete a Bachelor of Oral Health. Kelly is now one of our talented oral health therapists here at Hallett Cove Dental.

Kelly is passionate about helping children take great care of their teeth. She loves coming up with creative ways to educate young patients about the importance of oral health. She is also very experienced at helping anxious patients overcome their fears of the dentist by creating comfortable, positive experiences during visits.

Away from Hallett Cove Dental Kelly enjoys keeping fit and active. You may also see her out and about as a DJ on the weekend.

Chloe Erasito

Chloe Erasito initially joined the team at Hallett Cove Dental as a dental assistant in 2008. Soon after, she developed a keen passion for dentistry which led her to pursue further studies and become an Oral Health Therapist (OHT).

Since graduating in 2015, she has been working alongside the Hallett Cove team as an OHT to ensure optimal care for all her patients, and greatly enjoys contributing to their overall health and wellness.

Chloe is passionate about motivating people to care about their teeth and mouth. Her goal is to build rapport with her patients, especially when they are nervous so that they feel comfortable enough to attend regularly. She loves to see the difference in her patient’s oral health from initial visits to continued regular visits.

While she always enjoys treating patients of all ages, her leading clinical interests are in paediatric dentistry where she can teach good oral hygiene techniques and habits to children and adolescence.

Outside of work, Chloe loves spending quality time with her beloved husband and two young daughters.

Mai Nguyen
Oral Health Therapist

Mai Nguyen

Mai Nguyen joined Hallett Cove Dental as an Oral Health Therapist after graduating from the University of Adelaide in 2019. During her time as a student, Mai gained valuable experience working in both rural and public environments, where she quickly developed a passion for achieving optimal dental care through gentle yet thorough treatment techniques.

She finds great satisfaction in providing gentle and enjoyable patient experiences and enjoys working with both children and adults alike.

Outside of work, Mai can usually be found spending time with friends and family or attending various dental seminars and conferences to further develop her skills in the field.

Kevin Ly
Oral Health Therapist

Kevin Ly

Kevin Ly graduated with a Bachelor of Oral Health from Adelaide University in 2019. He was born in Sydney, however he grew up and earned his education in Adelaide.

His clinical interests include the entire process of teeth cleaning and the end result of putting a smile on the faces of his patients.  Equally, he takes pleasure in the meticulous attention to detail that is required when placing dental fillings (patients under 18 years of age). Kevin’s gentle and thorough approach to oral health quickly made him a favourite within the practice.

Outside of work, he enjoys reading, playing basketball, making music, and socialising with friends and family.
