Dr Ruchira Singhi

Dr Ruchira Singhi joined Maven Dental Belconnen as Lead Dentist in 2011 when she decided to settle in Canberra after working in Sydney and rural New South Wales. Ruchira has over 14 years’ experience as a dentist, and her passion for dentistry and her patients is clear as soon as you enter her surgery.

Ruchira enjoys all aspects of dentistry and holds a special interest in cosmetic dentistry, working with children and nervous patients. Dr Ruchira Singhi joined Maven Dental Belconnen as Lead Dentist in 2011 when she decided to settle in Canberra after working in Sydney and rural New South Wales. Ruchira has over 14 years’ experience as a dentist, and her passion for dentistry and her patients is clear as soon as you enter her surgery.

Ruchira enjoys all aspects of dentistry and holds a special interest in cosmetic dentistry, working with children and nervous patients. Her positive energy and contagious laugh radiates through our Belconnen practice every day, helping her patients to feel comfortable and at ease. Ruchira loves taking the time to get to know her patients, and believes that a great patient-clinician relationship is key to overcoming dental anxiety.

Outside of dentistry, Ruchira enjoys travelling, participating in extreme sports and reading a good book. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially her son and her spoodle puppy.

Associate Dentist

Dr Tara McAndrew

Maven Dental Belconnen welcomed Dr Tara McAndrew to the practice as an associate dentist in late 2009. Dr McAndrew graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide in 2008. After receiving her qualifications, she made the move to Canberra and joined the Maven Dental Belconnen team in 2009. During her first three years in Australia's capital, she also worked part time with ACT Health. Maven Dental Belconnen welcomed Dr Tara McAndrew to the practice as an associate dentist in late 2009. Dr McAndrew graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide in 2008. After receiving her qualifications, she made the move to Canberra and joined the Maven Dental Belconnen team in 2009. During her first three years in Australia's capital, she also worked part time with ACT Health. Dr McAndrew's career has additionally seen her joining Rotary in 2008 to provide dental aid to rural children in South Vietnam, and taking part in the 2016 Dental Global Relief in Ladakh, India.

In her role as an associate dentist, Dr McAndrew finds it extremely rewarding to help anxious patients overcome their dental fears. She also enjoys working with patients to encourage them to gain complete control over their oral health and to practice preventative techniques that reduce their risk of dental diseases. With the assistance of a caring, dedicated team, and state-of-the-art facilities, Dr McAndrew endeavours to provide patients with the best quality dental care and experience.

Dr McAndrew, although highly experienced across all areas of general dentistry, holds special interests in: children's dentistry, nervous patients, extractions, Mandibular Advancement Splints, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, patient education and developing tailored treatment plans to treat/prevent oral diseases. She continually strives to further her professional development by attending practical workshops/dental lectures, and reading the latest in dental literature.

Away from the practice, Dr McAndrew loves spending time with her growing family (toddler daughter and another baby girl on the way). She also enjoys getting out and exercising, walking the dog and reading.

Associate Dentist

Dr Megan O'Malley

Maven Dental Belconnen welcomed Dr Megan O'Malley to the practice as an associate dentist in June 2017. Although a Canberra local, Dr O'Malley graduated from Griffith University (Queensland) in 2012 and holds a Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science and Graduate Diploma of Dentistry. After receiving her qualifications she spent three years working in private practice in Toowoomba.

Before returning to Canberra and joining the Belconnen practice, Dr O'Malley spent a year travelling and volunteering as a dentist in remote clinics in Uganda and Papua New Guinea. She also worked as a carer at a camp for special needs…

Maven Dental Belconnen welcomed Dr Megan O'Malley to the practice as an associate dentist in June 2017. Although a Canberra local, Dr O'Malley graduated from Griffith University (Queensland) in 2012 and holds a Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science and Graduate Diploma of Dentistry. As a dentist, Dr O'Malley enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and embodies a preventative-focused style of dentistry. She holds particular interests in paediatrics and special care, and receives great satisfaction in being able to help make positive changes to patients' lives - whether by restoring confidence to their smile or assisting them in overcoming their dental anxiety.

Dr O'Malley regularly undertakes continuing professional development courses to ensure she remains abreast of new developments within the field of dentistry. Most recently, she has completed courses on the use of Nitrous Oxide sedation, and clinical paediatric care.

Away from the practice, Dr O'Malley enjoys keeping fit by playing netball and hiking. She also has interests in reading, listening to pod casts, baking (and of course eating her baked goods), and watching science fiction movies. She also has a love for cats and considers herself to be dangerously close to becoming a crazy cat lady.

Oral Health Therapist

Anita Ballard

Anita Ballard joined the Maven Dental Belconnen team in Mid 2019 as an Oral Health Therapist. Anita is a Canberra local who started her dental career ​as a Dental Assistant in 1997 before further studying a Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Adelaide.

Since completing her studies in 2008 she returned to Canberra and has worked as an Oral Health Therapist in general practice and for Defence. Anita Ballard joined the Maven Dental Belconnen team in Mid 2019 as an Oral Health Therapist. Anita is a Canberra local who started her dental career ​as a Dental Assistant in 1997 before further studying a Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Adelaide.

Since completing her studies in 2008 she returned to Canberra and has worked as an Oral Health Therapist in general practice and for Defence. Anita really enjoys getting to know her patients, their interests and motivtaions in life. She is very passionate about helping and teaching her patients to achieve good oral health. She has a strong interest in periodontics, oral pathology, oral and systemic health and wellbeing.

Outside of work, Anita enjoys cycling and gardening. She also enjoys having some down time to read a book and teach dental health.

Practice Manager

Brenda Watts

Maven Dental Belconnen welcomed Practice Manager, Brenda Watts, to the team in 2010. Brenda thoroughly enjoys forming relationships with patients and engaging in conversation. She is passionate about her role and being able to work alongside a lovely team of colleagues. Prior to joining the dental industry, Brenda gained valuable experience working at the Department of Defence and Tennis ACT.

Away from the practice, Brenda enjoys spending her free time playing bridge, tennis, reading, travelling, gardening, going to the theatre and dining out.
