Meet The Team

Originally from the United Kingdom, Dr Avind received his dental qualifications from the Leeds Dental School in 2014. Dr Avind has gone on to work across private and public practice as well as emergency care where he has gained thorough clinical experience. Continually striving to deliver his patients with the best in dental care, he remains up to date with the latest in dentistry by attending courses and training.

His clinical interests lie within the surgical side of dentistry, as well as the replacement of missing and damaged teeth with dental implants. Dr Avind believes that the ability to enhance the appearance of a patient’s smile is incredibly rewarding.

Dr Avind has a knack for settling anxious patients in the dental chair and wishes for all patients to have a positive experience while in his care, setting them up to have a good oral health routine for life.

In his spare time, Avind enjoys spending quality time with his beautiful wife and two sons!

Dr Donna Harvey graduated from Griffith University in 2017 with several Academic Excellence awards under her belt.

Before and during dental school, Dr Donna worked as a dental assistant for a total of nine years, giving her an invaluable perspective and experience in the dental industry before even beginning work as a dentist.

Dr Donna believes in using minimally invasive techniques to maintain natural teeth, natural dentition and personal characteristics. Her clinical interests include all aspects of dentistry, as she is a true all-rounder. The variety of cases that general dentistry allows means that she has never-ending opportunities to educate herself and keep up to date with the latest technologies and dental techniques.

A career goal of Dr Donna's is to change the stigma around dental visits - one patient at a time. Restoring patients' oral health and confidence to the point where they enjoy the 6-monthly check-ups for maintenance is the ultimate goal.

Away from her practice, Dr Donna loves camping and switching off in remote areas, away from the hustle and bustle. She is likely to be found outdoors on horseback, 4WDing, riding dirt bikes, or fishing on any given weekend.

Dr John Kovarik is a highly experienced and knowledgeable associate dentist. Having graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 1983, he has been immersed within the dental industry for over 40 years.

After his studies, Dr John opened his very own dental practice in Melbourne where he was committed to providing his patients with the highest standard of dental care for over 30 years. He has also practiced as a locum dentist at several clinics before deciding to operate his practice from Maven Dental Boyd Street.

Dr John enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, however, is particularly interested in emergency dentistry as he enjoys problem solving. He takes a holistic approach to dentistry and seeks pleasure out of finding suitable solutions for his patients, while taking their individual circumstances and needs into consideration.

Outside of dentistry, Dr John enjoys spending time with his wife Cecile and 7 wonderful children. He is an avid golfer, movie enthusiast and an AFL supporter of Carlton.

Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Jenna Le Roux immigrated to Australia in the early 2000’s. Jenna originally started working within the dental industry nearly 10 years ago as a dental assistant. It was during this time that she gained a love for dentistry while working with her patients and gaining a thorough understanding of all aspects that contribute to optimum patient care. Jenna went on to complete a Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy at the University of Newcastle in 2021.

Bringing a friendly, positive attitude to her practice as an oral health therapist, Jenna enjoys working with her patients (especially families) to make positive change in not only their oral health but also contributing to their overall health and wellness. She is passionate about the assessment and management of periodontal disease and enjoys motivating and educating her patients to improve their oral health care. Jenna says, “Once oral health care is improved it is highly rewarding for myself and the patient to see the improvement.”

Jenna is also passionate about teeth whitening as she believes the smile is a curve that sets everything straight! Feeling comfortable within our smile not only improves a person's confidence but improves quality of life!

Outside of her practice Jenna lives an active lifestyle. She enjoys surfing, skating, road trips with friends and spending time with her Great Dane/Mastiff, Sniper. She’s also a foodie and is always up to try out a new restaurant!

Kylie Spillane is a friendly and passionate dental hygienist. She was first introduced to the world of dentistry when she worked as a dental assistant. It was during this time that she formed an interest in all things teeth and decided to further her career. Kylie graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Oral Health in 2008. After her studies, she worked as a dental hygienist in Sydney before relocating to Tweed Heads in 2021.

Kylie takes a very gentle approach to her work and is a very thorough dental hygienist. She is passionate about educating her patients on how to best care for their teeth and gums and finds it very rewarding to see the end results of her patient’s treatment. Kylie takes the time to understand her patients’ individual needs and circumstances and will always ensure they feel at ease in the dental chair.

Outside of her practice, Kylie is a busy mum of two boys! She loves spending quality time with her friends and family. When she’s not exploring the local beaches and cafes, Kylie loves playing soccer and fishing.

Alex loves all aspects of dentistry but her area of expertise is working with children and cosmetic dental treatment, including veneers and tooth whitening. The most rewarding part of her practice is giving patients back their confidence by restoring their smile and alleviating their dental anxiety. When caring for patients, Alex has a strong focus on minimally invasive and pain free dentistry. This allows her to make your teeth beautiful and last longer.

The variety that each day brings in a busy family clinic makes the job worthwhile. She enjoys working as part of a friendly, caring team and alongside fellow dentists, to provide the best treatment experience for each patient.

Alex has recently moved from Northern Ireland to make her new life in Australia so please excuse her Irish accent! She has spent the last three years working in Edinburgh, Scotland prior to moving overseas. Outside of dentistry, Alex enjoys travelling to see the beautiful scenery Queensland and New South Wales has to offer. With a big interest in water sports Alex’s aim is to become a fully qualified scuba diver in her down time.

When not in the water Alex loves to bake, especially for her friends. A wannabe Bake Off winner! Alex will always make time to speak to her family back home – seeing her family dog, a Springer Spaniel called Rogue, on facetime is always a bonus.

John has spent the last few years working in a busy dental clinic in Scotland before his move to Australia. The interest and expertise he built up over this time, particularly in Invisalign, has given patients both their smile and confidence back.

The most rewarding part of the job for John is saving teeth that otherwise may be lost. His skills in all aspects of cosmetic dentistry, including veneers and tooth whitening, allow him to provide a high level of care for each patient that walks through the door. John works closely with the rest of the dental team to give patients a calm and pleasant dental experience.

In his spare time John enjoys keeping fit at the gym. John is also very keen on water sports and wishes to pursue his scuba diving certification.

When not in the gym or in the water, John can nearly always be found listening to music or at a concert, a music nerd at heart!
