Dr Michael Slatcher is passionate about oral health and delivering the highest level of dental service and care to the local Cairns community. On top of his passion, Dr Slatcher also brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Already equipped with a dental degree, he went on to obtain his Masters degree in implants at the University College of London.

While experienced across all areas of dentistry, Dr Slatcher has taken a particular interest in dental implants and performing more complex dental procedures. Supporting his interests, he undertakes extensive surgical procedures including implant placement and wisdom teeth removal as part of his practice. Offering this service helps reduce costs and waiting times for patients who require this particular dental work.

Dr Slatcher loves the sense of community and outdoor lifestyle that Far North Queensland offers. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and taking his children camping and fishing.

Dr Nadine Slatcher is a skilled and caring dentist. Although originally working as an intensive care nurse, Dr Slatcher followed her passion for dentistry and completed her dental qualifications at the James Cook University in 2013 (receiving an award for her academic excellence). After graduating she decided to operate her practice from Maven Dental Cairns City alongside her husband Dr Michael Slatcher.

Passionate about being a dentist, Dr Slatcher takes great pride in her patient-focused approach to dental care. With every appointment, she takes the time to understand the individual needs and concerns of her patients and strives to deliver them the highest level of care and treatment. Although enjoying all aspects of dentistry, Dr Slatcher holds clinical interests in restorative dentistry and surgical procedures.

Away from her practice, Dr Slatcher is kept busy with her three kids, however, enjoys finding time to play her weekly games of touch football and netball.

Dr Noureen Dhamani began operating her practice from Maven Dental Cairns City in 2015. Having already completed her dental degree, Dr Dhamani went on to complete a masters degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2007 (receiving accolades for academic excellence). Since gaining her qualifications she has been practicing across a number of clinics, further developing her skills and knowledge within the field of dentistry.

While enjoying all aspects of general dentistry, Dr Dhamani has developed a strong clinical interest in extractions and enjoys helping patients feel comfortable and at ease during the dental procedure. With each and every patient Dr Dhamani strives to ensure a positive dental experience, approaching treatments in a caring, gentle and dynamic manner. Her vast experience in working with patients of all ages assists her in creating treatment plans for her patients that will help achieve life long oral health.

Outside of her practice, Dr Dhamani enjoys spending time with her family and cooking Indian cuisine.

Originally from Northern Ireland, Dr Lucy Devlin relocated her practice to Maven Dental Cairns City in 2019. Dr Lucy studied at the University of Glasgow graduating in June 2010. After returning home from Scotland and working in Belfast at a general practice clinic she embarked on an adventure to Australia. Planning to only be here for a year, she fell in love with the tropical north Queensland way of life and four years later she’s still here.

After spending eight years honing her skillset in general dentistry Dr Lucy chose to take on some further study. One of her biggest assets is her ability to engage with children and ensure a positive dental experience to foster a positive attitude towards dentistry. For this reason Dr Lucy chose to commence a Masters degree from the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute at the University College of London. This will allow her to diagnose and treat more complex paediatric dental problems.

Dr Lucy is committed to ensuring her patients have a positive dental experience and is very experienced in treating the dentally anxious. Dr Lucy is highly trained and experienced in performing dentistry under inhalation sedation and general anaesthetic for complex treatments or to help her more nervous patients. She has extensive experience in all aspects of general dentistry from minimally invasive dentistry and tooth whitening to crown and bridgework and root canal treatment.

Over her many years in general practice, she has undertaken many courses to ensure that her patients are offered the best and most up-to-date treatments. These courses have ranged from the restoration of dental implants to complex veneer cases. Dr Lucy has also completed some short-term orthodontic courses and in the future would like to do more training in this area of dentistry to be able to offer her patients more complex treatment.

Outside of dentistry, Dr Lucy loves being outside. If she is not exploring the rainforests or the reefs around far north Queensland you can find her hanging out in the creeks or at the beach with her golden retriever, Toby. Dr Lucy has always been a runner, taking part in various 10km or half marathon distance races but since moving to Cairns she has immersed herself in triathlon. Last year she completed two half-ironman distance races which pushed her well outside of her comfort zone. Lucy also loves travelling, yoga and surfing.

Dr Caitlin Bilbe begun practicing as a friendly associate dentist at Maven Dental Cairns City in 2022. Dr Caitlin completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at James Cook University in Cairns in 2013 and soon after moved to Tasmania where she worked within public and private practice. After a year and a half, she moved back home to tropical Cairns where she found herself working within private practice and supervising dental students at JCU.

Dr Caitlin enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and places a special focus on preventative dentistry. She believes it is never too late to improve oral health and that patient education is paramount in ensuring a strong foundation for an optimal oral environment.

As an associate dentist, Dr Caitlin is passionate about building long lasting relationships with her patients. With her gentle and quiet manner, Dr Caitlin takes the time to listen to her patients’ individual circumstances and needs and always ensures they feel comfortable while in the dental chair.

Outside of her practice, Dr Caitlin spends most of her time with her husband and two young boys. She also loves baking when she can find the time.

Dr Larissa Holzschuher is a friendly dentist with over five years of experience within the dental industry.

Growing up in Cairns, Dr Larissa studied a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at James Cook University and graduated in 2016. Following her studies, she worked as a dentist in various private and public clinics in Cairns, Innisfail and Mossman here she gained extensive experience and knowledge.

Dr Larissa offers experience across all aspects of general dentistry with a special interest paediatrics. Her gentle, calm, demeanour allows anxious patients to feel at ease before and during treatment and she strives to ensure her patients have a positive, pain-free experience at the dentist.

Above all, Dr Larissa is passionate about creating beautiful smiles and ultimately, restoring her patient’s self-confidence.

Outside of her practice, she loves exploring Far North Queensland, spending time boating on the Great Barrier Reef and walking her dog along the beach.

Katie Best is a highly skilled and dedicated Dental Hygienist at Maven Dental Cairns City. Katie returned to her hometown here in Cairns in 2023 after earning an Advanced Diploma of Oral Health (Dental Hygiene) from TAFE SA in 2022, an achievement for which she was recognised with an Academic Excellence award. Prior to her advanced studies, Katie had been part of the Maven Dental Cairns City team since 2015, completing her Certificate III and IV in Dental Assisting at TAFE Queensland.

Katie is passionate about every aspect of dental hygiene, with a particular emphasis on patient education. She firmly believes that knowledge and preventative care are the keys to lifelong oral health, and she takes great pleasure in equipping her patients with the skills and understanding they need to maintain their smiles. A dedicated professional, she is committed to ensuring her patients feel comfortable and relaxed during their visits.

Outside the clinic, Katie loves spending time with her husband and son. A Cairns local, she relishes spending her free time outdoors. From water skiing to playing hockey, Katie is an active participant in the local community. She also enjoys the pleasures of cooking and sharing meals with family and friends.
