A mouthguard custom fitted by your Alstonville Dentist and worn during sporting events can significantly reduce the risk of a dental injury and is a lot less expensive to treat.

Our mouthguards are appliances that are made to fit your mouth and provide protection to your teeth and jaw joints against injuries that can occur while playing high impact sports.

At Maven Dental, we recommend mouthguards for active children and adults, especially for boxing, soccer, hockey and football, as sport is one of the most common causes of dental injury.

The Treatment Process

Appointments

  • At least 2 appointments
    • At the consultation, our dentist will examine your teeth and take impressions of your mouth for the mouthguard
    • At the next appointment, your new mouthguard will be fitted
  • Further appointments may be needed to check on the fit, for example, if there are any tooth movements in a growing mouth

How long it takes?

  • The consultation usually takes 30 to 60 minutes
  • The fitting of the mouthguard will take around 30 minutes
