Dr Rachel McDowall was welcomed to the Maven Dental Hervey Bay clinic and has operated her practice there since December 2016. Originally from Scotland, Dr McDowall graduated from the University of Dundee in 2014 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. After receiving her dental qualifications, she spent her time working in general practice clinic in Glasgow and Dundee before making the move to Australia in 2016. Alongside her dental practice, Dr McDowall focuses on furthering her professional development through training courses.

Dr Rachel McDowall was welcomed to the Maven Dental Hervey Bay clinic and has operated her practice there since December 2016. Originally from Scotland, Dr McDowall graduated from the University of Dundee in 2014 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. After receiving her dental qualifications, she spent her time working in general practice clinic in Glasgow and Dundee before making the move to Australia in 2016. Alongside her dental practice, Dr McDowall focuses on furthering her professional development through training courses.

Working in general dentistry, Dr McDowall enjoys the day-to-day challenges and variety offered by her practice. She particularly likes working with kids and anxious patients where she focuses on building strong relationships. Being able to meet so many wonderful people Dr McDowall places great focus on getting to know each and every one of her patients, establishing great rapport and communication.

Away from her practice, Dr McDowall loves exploring her new home of Hervey Bay with her husband. She also enjoys keeping active by running, cycling and her new hobby of stand-up paddle boarding.

Originally from Sydney, Dr Amy Fan made the move to Brisbane to study a Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) at the University of Queensland and completed her degree in 2018. During her studies, Dr Amy practiced in various locations throughout Queensland including Brisbane, Dalby, St George, and Childers, and even volunteered in Cambodia. She has since relocated her practice to Maven Dental Hervey Bay and is a friendly and compassionate dentist.

During her studies, Dr Amy practiced in various locations throughout Queensland including Brisbane, Dalby, St George, and Childers, and even volunteered in Cambodia. She has since relocated her practice to Maven Dental Hervey Bay and is a friendly and compassionate dentist.

Dr Amy enjoys all aspect of general dentistry, however, is particularly interested in root canal treatment as she believes it is a great way to give a tooth a second chance. She also enjoys the challenge of restoring front teeth, as she has seen firsthand how the treatment significantly impacts a person’s smile and self-confidence. Most importantly, Dr Amy is passionate about motivating and educating her patients to maintain good oral health habits so that their teeth can last well into the future.

Outside of her practice Dr Amy enjoys exploring Hervey Bay and the surrounding towns, camping with friends, and tinkering around in the garden (even though she may not have the greenest thumb).

Dr Max’s approach to dentistry is characterised by a deep commitment to patient comfort and a passion for preserving and restoring natural teeth, providing significant relief and improving patients' quality of life.

Originally from Adelaide, Dr Max moved to Queensland in 2014 where he began his tertiary studies. His journey reflects hard work and dedication, balancing part-time jobs throughout his education to support his ambitions.

Beyond his professional life, Dr Max has a love for learning languages, with a particular interest in Chinese and Japanese. His previous experience as a senior barista fuels his passion for quality coffee. And as a fitness devotee, he frequents the gym, ensuring he stays in healthy condition.

Dr Charlie graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Newcastle upon Tyne in 2014.

Dr Charlie has worked in general practice for other 6 years, mainly in the North of England, providing general dentistry as well as cosmetic treatments, such as veneers, whitening and simple teeth straightening. For more conscious patients, he also provides beauty treatments such as facial / lip fillers and wrinkle reducing injections. Dr Chalie is currently interested in Restorative Dentistry, which simply put is the science of restoring damaged teeth with materials that look great and lasts a long time. He enjoys interacting with people from different walks of life as everyone has a story to tell. He also enjoys the problem solving side of his job to figure out the ideal solution that is often unique to each patients individual problem.

Dr Charlie is a friendly, easy-going and respectful person. In addition, he is considerate to the needs of others, be it his patients wishes or when it’s time to buy his nurse a coffee!

Outside of work Dr Charlie enjoys travelling, fitness and going to the beach with his partner. When good waves come to the shore you can also find him in the surf!

Amrutha is passionate about delivering personalised care that changes lives. Growing up in Mumbai and studying in Australia has not only broadened her cultural understanding but also deepened her empathy for people from all walks of life. For her, being a dentist is not just about teeth - it's about understanding what makes each patient unique and tailoring my care to their individual needs.

Amrutha’s clinical interests lie in preventative dentistry, aesthetic dentistry, and restorative procedures like crowns and bridges. She is driven to promote oral health and make caring for teeth easier and more accessible for her patients, empowering them to achieve a healthier, happier smile.

She loves helping people get their smile back and takes great satisfaction in seeing the positive impact the good oral health can have on someone's life.

Outside of work, Amrutha enjoys reading and exploring new books, dancing to her favourite tunes, and spending quality time with her loved ones.

Dental Hygienist

Ann Triggs

Graduating from Adelaide in 1995 with a degree in dental hygiene, Ann spent the first 8 years of her career travelling and working from Northern New South Wales to Cairns. In 2003 she settled in Hervey Bay where she has since been supporting the community ever since.

When not seeing her patients, Ann enjoys getting outdoors where she finds herself fishing, camping and four wheel driving.
