What happens at the visit

  1. Say hello. The team asks about your child's health and how they brush. You're welcome to stay the whole time, and little ones can sit on your lap.
  2. Count and check. The dentist or oral health therapist counts and checks their teeth and gums, including new ones coming through.
  3. Scale and clean. We take off the plaque and tartar a toothbrush can miss. For 11 to 17, x-rays are included if the dentist recommends them.
  4. All done. You'll hear how their teeth are looking and when to come back. If anything needs treatment, you'll get a quote before it's done.

If you get Family Tax Benefit Part A or another eligible payment, the CDBS can cover check-ups, cleans and x-rays, up to a set amount over two calendar years. Tell the practice when you book.

Kids aged 17 and under at participating Maven Dental practices. Not every practice offers both age groups, so check when you book.

It depends on your fund, your cover and the practice. Some participating practices offer a no-gap check-up and clean to members of their preferred funds. You may not be able to claim on your fund and get the kids offer price as well, so ask the practice which works out better for you when you book.

The dentist will explain what they've found, and you'll get a quote before anything else is done. Extra treatment isn't part of the offer price.

Your Medicare card, and your health fund card if you have one, so the practice can check what you can claim.

Your child may be eligible if they're aged 0 to 17 for at least one day of the year, they're eligible for Medicare, and you or they get an eligible payment, such as Family Tax Benefit Part A, at least once that year. You don't need to bring the letter. Tell the practice you want to use the CDBS when you book, and they'll check for you.

Yes. Book each child online, or contact your nearest practice and ask for back-to-back appointments.

First tooth? Time for a visit.

The Australian Dental Association recommends a first visit when their first teeth come through or by their first birthday, whichever comes first. After that, the dentist will suggest when to come back.

Terms and conditions

  • The kids check-up and clean offer is only available at participating Maven Dental practices. Use the practice finder on this page to find one.

  • For children aged 10 and under, it includes a standard dental examination and a routine scale and clean. For children aged 11 to 17, it also includes x-rays if the dentist recommends them.

  • Prices and inclusions vary by practice. For children aged 10 and under the price is $99 or $120. For children aged 11 to 17 it's $149 or $159. Not every practice offers both age groups. Your practice will confirm its price when you book.

  • Any other services, diagnostics or treatment, including x-rays for children aged 10 and under, aren't included. If they're recommended, they'll be quoted separately and charged in addition to the offer price.

  • All treatment is subject to the clinical assessment of the treating practitioner.

  • The offer can't be used with any other offer. You may not be able to claim on private health insurance and receive the offer price, so ask the practice before your appointment.

  • No-gap check-ups and cleans are available at some participating practices to eligible members of their preferred provider health funds. Whether you pay a gap depends on your fund, your level of cover, your available benefits and the treating practitioner.

  • Payment is due at the time of the appointment. Some practices ask for a deposit when you book online. Appointments are subject to availability.

  • This offer runs until 15 January 2027. Maven Dental may change or withdraw it at any time.
