FAQs

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a government program that covers part or the full cost of some dental services for eligible children, up to $1,158 per child.

The scheme allows for $1,158 of dental cover per eligible child over a two calendar year period. The new indexed cap rate for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) of $1,158 comes into effect on 1 January 2026 and is applicable until 31 December 2026. The increased $1,158 cap applies only if a child’s CDBS treatment period begins in 2026. The $1,132 cap applies to those starting in 2025, even if their treatment continues into 2026.

  • CDBS is available for children between the ages of 2 and 17 years old
  • The benefit is available to those children who are eligible for Medicare
  • The family of the child must receive an applicable government payment, for example, the Family Tax Benefit Part A (FTB-A).
A range of services can be provided under the CDBS including:
  • examinations
  • x-rays
  • cleaning
  • fissure sealing
  • fillings
  • root canals and extractions.
Benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work, and cannot be paid for any services provided during a stay in hospital (including day surgery).

If your child isn't eligible for the CDBS, we encourage you to speak with your local Maven Dental practice and ask if any additional offers are available.
