WHAT IS INVISALIGN®?

Invisalign® treatment uses a series of clear plastic removable orthodontic aligners to gently move your teeth in small increments. For the best results, Invisalign® clear teeth aligners should be worn 20 to 22 hours a day. You’ll receive a series of aligners to be worn for one to two weeks each, or as directed by your dentist. Each set of aligners gradually shifts your teeth before you move on to the next set.

INVISALIGN® FAQs

Invisalign® clear aligner technology works by gently moving your teeth in small increments. The aligners are custom-made to your teeth and are changed out every couple of weeks depending on your progress.

The length of your Invisalign® treatment depends on the complexity of your case. Your Invisalign® provider will talk to you about the options available to you and treatment times can be anywhere from 6 to 24 months.

You may experience discomfort of pressure for the few days that follow each aligner change. This is completely normal and is a sign that the clear aligners are moving your teeth into their straighter position. Any pain or discomfort that you experience will be noticeably less than traditional metal braces can cause.

Aligners are most effective when worn at least 20 to 22 hours a day. We recommend only removing your clear teeth aligners for eating, drinking anything other than water and brushing and flossing your teeth.

Continue brushing and flossing regularly to keep your teeth and gums healthy, especially after meals before putting your aligners back in.

Your dentist will provide you with a care guide for your aligners. It will include important tips like how to store them in their case when not in use, avoiding exposing them to heat and cleaning them regularly to keep them in good condition.

Clean your aligners daily by rinsing with lukewarm water and gently brushing with a soft toothbrush, a small amount of toothpaste and warm water. This routine helps keep your aligners free from bacteria and prevents staining.

For deep cleaning, soak in Invisalign® cleaning crystals or denture cleaning tablets. Remember to rinse your aligners frequently throughout the day, especially after removing them to eat or drink, and always store them in their protective case when not in use to maintain clarity.
